I need a new track rod for my disco. I bent the 3rd one I had ohmy.gif

I am considering buying a sumo bar, but for now if anyone has one for sale cheap enough I shall make do with a replacement.

I walked into Gratech to get a new steering damper and they had a stronger heavy duty drag link and track rod for a disco 1 on display.

I went back the next day and got them laugh.gif

I now have new bars and ball joints all round, new gas damper and the steering is vastly improved. No wobbles on the steering wheel and no noises anywhere rolleyes.gif

I got them at a relatively good price too I reckon.

Kev,
An unfortunate turn of events for you - but interesting to know weaknesses on certain vehicles-it was pretty bent! See how the new one fairs eh? Pete. wink.gif

I had to change it really. I wanted to wait but it had bent again, though not as much, and I had to do 40 mph up the A12 all the way home with flashing beacons on. Steering was SO wobbly.

Feels and looks so much better now.

I can do discounted spare track rods. £5. Just needs straightning laugh.gif laugh.gif

The problems normally come about by clouting the drag link, but the track rod bends because the metal is weakened by the steering damper bracket being welded to it.
Glad you're sorted Kev'.

This one bent coz I drove over a tree stump, that I didn't see. and wondered why the car wouldn't move. Though I did try forwards and backwards until it shifted the stump ohmy.gif
