I hope you don't mind me adding this in here.
Something I heard at a recent event (one of ours I might add) was the disappointment at the RTV and Winch Challenge being held at the same time. The person in question likes to do both these events and as a reult has elected not to bother turning up. A shame as he is a really keen person who even marshals at other times. I know it's only one person, but I wonder if anyone else feels the same?
It might be something to think about for next year.
Hope this feedback is rec'd in the spirit it was given.

This very point is debated each year, and it can be argued strongly either way.

Fundamentally, it can't be on the Monday as we can't run the winch bit at the same time as the comp. It can't be done on the Friday as that doesn't leave us enough time to set it all up.

So it has to be Saturday or Sunday.

Saturday is the CCV to give people time to fix breakages before the Monday comp, and there are more RTV drivers likely to be working on a Saturday, so we put that on the Sunday.

So, the winch challenge will either impact on the RTV or the CCV. The way the winch challenge is set it is a challenge for two vehicles and three people making it more of a team based challenge, and is designed to use an RTV type vehicle and a CCV one. Obviously one of them is going to miss their trial.

We have decided to clash with the RTV as it gives us more time to get all the sections designed, set and -*test*-('")ed, and then the supporting paperwork for each challenge section prepared.

For the individual you mention (and I think I know who you mean) it's a shame that they aren't doing at least one of the events.

As it stands, we don't have any entries for the winch challenge (we need at least 3 pre-booked), and if that doesn't change in the next 10 days or so, it will be cancelled.

We have a de-brief meeting just after the event where we review what went well, or not so well, to lay the foundations for the next year's event. I'll make sure this point is raised, and we can kick about some options for what else we could do to make the winch challenge work better.

It's certainly not for me to judge how you set up your days, after all, I don't even take part in trials - can't abide them!
I know for a fact you do a fantastic job together and long may you reign. Just thought I'd mention it in case it hadn't been aired before.

You need to fill in a separate form for each driver but you can pay for all the entries in one go with Paypal.
