Hi Romany,
The only Hotel I can think of is the Bull, which is at the bottom of the hill, in Halstead.
Phil
Thank's for that but the name doe's not ring any bell's all i remember is when i lived at the hunt and i used to go into halstead the big white pub come hotel was on the left hand side at the top of the hill?.
The reason i would like to stay at this hotel is when we laid my grandfarther to rest at earle's colne many year's ago i stopped at the pub come hotel on the way home for a meal and allway's wanted to return to spend a couple of night's as i do remember many year's ago as a child looking out of my bedroom window from colne and seeing the bright light as it allmost burnt to the ground, sad i know but it is just one of those thing's.
It is now 36year's that i have been making my journey from Lincoln to tend to my grandparent's grave's and normally i tend to go to the place's i remember most like the mersea mud flat's where we could see the queen elizebeth ship's that were moured up before being sold off point clear or even clacton where my farther bought a speed boat, colchester where he bought a 650 Matchless combination for the family was another thing that stick's in my mind as he put it in a dyke after getting to confident on a bend.
Sorry for getting carried away but my journey's are normally done at night to avoid traffic as the old 2a is only steady so i tend to miss thing's in the dark but would appriciate any information to try and find this pub come hotel??.Catch you later R-Rose.
Look's like i will be sleeping rough in the 88 for a week!!, i guess that's my own fault as i am still working on the 109,s lift up roof and my ambulance camper cannot be used until all the bird's have fled there nest as while i was giving the chassis a coat of paint with the fuel tank,s out some lodger,s moved in and made a lovely nest.
It would have been nice just to travel down straight to a hotel but i guess i will just drive to colne unless anyone has any idea's of a half decent place in the village.
Catch you later.R-Rose.
