mad.gif sad.gif I'm sure it's not just me - this forum really is a pain in the butt to log onto!! I have just logged in 3 times, it says 'you are now logged in as JohnB', but as soon as I ask it to give me a list of unread messages, it says 'this facility is not available to guests'. sad.gif mad.gif

Does anybody understand why this should be? It's getting to be extremely annoying!!

John,

I've never experienced any of these type of problems so it makes diagnosing what is wrong very difficult.

I leave myself logged in all the time so that when I revisit the site I am already logged on. The only time I log out is when Sue logs in under her name. Even then we have never experienced these problems.

You are not alone however. Several people have reported this to me but as I said, it is very difficult to sort if you don't experience it 1st hand. I will keep you posted if I do discover anything. I'm sure others will let me know of the problems they experience.

regards
Ralph

have you tried allowing cookies for this site on your pc security settings dry.gif , if your not allowing cookies you will see a small simble in the bottom right hand corner of the page looks a bit like a no entry sign blink.gif ,
click on it and a page for the setting sould come up biggrin.gif then allow cookies for this forum
thats what we had to do to stay log in

hope this helps, Rich and Dave smile.gif

Like Ralph, I don't have problems most of the time.

However, I always go straight to the Forum, and don't enter via the ELRC website, I have heard that people who jump to the site via the club website sometimes have problems. I have no idea why or how though.

Karl.

biggrin.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif Thanks for the help chaps!
A combination of allowing this site to leave cookies, and staying logged in, seems to have worked smile.gif

AMAZING!!

Just to make this even harder to diagnose, it's not consistent. sometimes I get in fine, and it stays logged in, others I get the same symptoms as John with it accepting my login, but then dropping me out subsequently. I now just exit and try again and it usually works. Mystery........ ph34r.gif

cool.gif This is probably tempting fate, but since my last message on this subject, it hasn't played up once! smile.gif smile.gif

Well, I was just thinking the same..... when it happened again, for the first time in several weeks. Was it your fate tempting, or mine?

biggrin.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif Well I guess if I was glad it happened to you and not me, Keith ph34r.gif , that would be schadenfreude - so I'll just say SSShh... still OK cool.gif

Well it's finally happened to me!

Since adding the link to the Forum from the new ELRC.INFO website it seems that when I link from there I am classed as a guest. If I go straight to the Forum from a link I have previously saved it is generally OK.

If I refresh from the Forum page it doesn't help and when I use my pre-saved link it doesn't find me after a failure. But, if I then refresh I am magically logged in. Strange behaviour indeed.

I will get to the bottom of this now I have experienced the phenomenon for myself.

yours determinedly,

Ralph
