I had this sent to me by e-mail, so thought I would paste it here and let you make your own mind up about it...
Friends, Club Members & Fellow 4x4 Enthusiast
Welcome, this is the first newsletter from Oval Green Xtreme, we're to be found live on the web at www.O-G-X.co.uk
To go with our first hello, a personal invitation from me to join us on our
"Fender Bender Land Rover 4x4 Weekender" 29th & 30th October,
A two day Pay & Play marathon at 2 brilliant & very different off-road sites. All marques are welcome as we're all after one thing only, promoting sensible use on our greenlanes, making new friends in our sport, sharing advice & getting our motors mucky!
If you don't know, who we are, we're a new web based community, for LR Club members, & people who own modified Land Rovers, for people who love exploring & love to use their 4x4's as the big man himself intended.
so what is O-G-X all about...
Well.....I guess I'd better tell you where I'm commin' from, I set OGX up earlier this year, starting off with 2 off-road days & went from there. There are of course a few more reasons why really, like most of us I enjoy greenlaneing, adding to & modifying my Land Rovers, meeting people who share the same interests, finding out what other people have done to & in theirs. I'm also one of those people, who's quite happy going out with pretty much anyone to explore & just be on the road. We all know what I'm talking about, that feeling you get when everything's working as it should, you've got one arm out the window & you're driving one of Solihull's finest, it is a bit weird, but out of all the vehicles I've driven, like the Highlander, there can be only one...but don't ask me to explain it.
I also love, like so many people, finding out where my Landy's limits are, learning new skills & meeting like minded people at shows, club meets or out & about. With all eyes firmly focused on the use of our Byways & as Bedfordshire GLASS Rep, I'm keen to promote sensible usage on our byways, but these are not the places to find those limits. So again, like many of us I'm not loaded, I dont have the latest gear, and going to a 4x4 site can be really dear when you consider everything, so one of O-G-X's aims are, to offer as one pure enthusist to another, a good place to find those limits at a reasonable price, with freindly faces on hand to watch & help. Just so you know, the revenue we make, from our days, just pays for the site hire, staff, making small improvements to our home site at Sibbertoft, of course the perks are, that are we get some off-road time free & a tank of fuel & that's about it...The only thing that's priceless, is meeting the folkes who come to our get togethers.
The www.O-G-X.co.uk website...
We've been told that it looks great, let us know what you think, I've worked on the internet for 7 years, so maybe I've learnt a few tricks, but we're certainly not a big publishing company, this is purely run in our spare time, updates might not be regular, newsletters might not be either, we don't charge for advertising (yet;-) we don't charge you to post your "For sales or Wants" we also have no price limits, I find it a bit daft some sites do, but anyway..feel free to promote your club, your shop, foward this email to freinds & club members, post your site & anything 4x4 related, in return all we ask you to help us out to build, what we hope in time to be the UK's largest 4x4 Database.
What's commin'?
We'll be changing our Forum boards soon, at the mo it's difficult to find a good provider, but we've found one & it will be up soon, so bear with us, you'll be able to load up your pictures easily, plus you'll be famliar with the layout,
We'll be designing a database entry page, in time you'll be able to type in "winch bumpers" & we'll tell your were you can get one near where you are.
Product reviews, we want to hear your stories about your modifuications, where they came from, what they do and how they perform, I'll also be trying to blag samples to test.
