For those of you who had eggs for breakfast on Sunday they were probably Moorehen eggs and not Mallard as previously thought given the colour and markings of the eggs and the nest type.

Thanks to Jan my two boys had a great time building a 'den' and a camp fire.

The location was great for walking and the surrounding area was very pleasant. It looked quite difficult for the 'setters out' though and from what I saw, the drivers also struggled, as they either tried to drive through the trees or submarine under them.

It was indeed a Moorhen nest. The Moorhen herself was actually hiding under the logs next to the nest and came out to sit back on the nest as soon as it went quiet. I hope the eggs didn't get too cold. She certainly spent a lot of time on there on Sunday.
